Huskies beat Saints, 7-0

Nashua-Plainfield’s Dawson Glaser pitched seven shutout innings Wednesday to ice a 7-0 win against Saint Ansgar. Making his second start on the mound this season, Glaser struck out seven batters while walking none and scattering five hits. In his first outing on May 23, he pitched 6 1/3 innings and struck out 12 in N-P’s 5-3 win over Central Springs. N-P improved its record to 4-1. The Saints fell to 5-3. N-P at State Track, Day 3: Huck wins 800m title; hurdle team 7th

Nashua-Plainfield’s third day at the Iowa High School Track & Field Championships began with another record-breaking performance. Huskies sophomore Kadence Huck won the Class 1A girls 800m run with a personal best time of 2:11.75, another school record. Later, Huck was 2nd in the 1500m run with a time of 4:35.44. Cal-Wheatland sophomore Noelle Steines took first with a state record time of 4:35.43. Oelwein at State Track: Sauser takes 5th

Oelwein sophomore Conall Sauser took 5th in the Class 2A boys 3200m run on Friday in Des Moines at the Iowa High School Track and Field Championships. He finished with a time of 9:59.90. Senior Ray Gearhart was 24th with a time of 10:30.82. Oelwein shuttle hurdle team of Brock Steinlage, Matthew Bratten, Hayden Tripp and Garet Kiel finished 13th with a time of 1:04.34. Cedar River (above Nashua) Water clarity is muddy with high flows. Water levels are falling, but up about 3 feet. Water temperatures are on the rise with warmer weather.  Channel Catfish – Good: Try a dead chub or stink baits fished in slack water areas. Smallmouth Bass – Slow: Try fishing eddies and current breaks. Walleye – Slow: Use a jig tipped with a minnow or worm below dams. Try using a 3-way with enough weight to keep the weight on the bottom. Decorah District Streams Area streams are in good condition. All stocked streams are announced at least once a month. Nashua-Plainfield sophomore Kadence Huck captured the Class 1A state title in the girls 400m dash today at the Iowa High School Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. N-P boys place 5th in sectional tournament, Rockford 2nd, North Butler 3rd

AGWSR won Wednesday’s Class 1A Boys Sectional Golf Tournament at Nashua Town and Country by 35 strokes. After 18 holes, AGWSR scored 335 as a team, followed by Rockford (370), North Butler (372), Dunkerton (386), Nashua-Plainfield (392), Clarksville (428) and Riceville (433). N-P girls track 6th at conference meet

Nashua-Plainfield’s girls placed sixth among the nine teams at the Top of Iowa Conference meet held Thursday in Nashua. Osage took first with 146 team points, followed by Saint Ansgar (143), West Fork (96), Central Springs (92), Northwood-Kensett (89), Nashua-Plainfield (62), North Butler (47) Rockford (31) and Newman Catholic (28). Sophomore Kadence Huck set conference records in the 400-meter dash at 57.36 and the 1500m at 4:59.34. She also finished first in the 800m run at 2:27.68. N-P boys finish 4th in conference

Despite 10 Huskies setting new personal bests, the Nashua-Plainfield boys fell to fourth at the Top of Iowa conference tournament on Thursday in Nashua. Osage won the conference meet Thursday in Nashua with 147 points, followed by Saint Ansgar (146), Central Springs (116), N-P (103), North Butler (70), Newman Catholic (58), West Fork (56) and Northwood-Kensett (43). Top 5 trio leads N-P girls to golf victory

Three of the top five golfers at the girls golf triangular on Monday in Manly were Huskies, giving Nashua-Plainfield a 3-stroke team victory. N-P scored 230 followed by the Central Springs (233) and Rockford (273). Sophomore Paige Franzen and Central Springs senior Cooper Klaashen each shot 51 over 9 holes at the Pioneer Town and Country Club. Rockford freshman Danika deBuhr took third with a 54.
