
Nashua-Plainfield sophomore Kadence Huck captured the Class 1A state title in the girls 400m dash today at the Iowa High School Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. She finished with a personal best time of 55.94.
Today is the first day of the state track meet, which goes through Saturday. N-P celebrated its state qualifiers from both the boys and girls teams with a couple of send-offs on Wednesday. Along with today’s results, here is what is coming up for the Huskies:
Day 1 results:
- The boys 4x800m relay team of Bo Harrington, Dylan Blanchard, Jase Hansen and Eli Kalainoff took 18th out of 24 with a time of 8:38.73. Their best time of the season was 8:31.96. Earlham won the Class 1A title with a time of 8:11.05.
- The boys shuttle hurdle relay advanced to the finals, which will be on Saturday. Kaden Wilken, Aiden Lamborn, Bo Harrington and Titus Evans combined for a time of 1:01.54, which put them 5th in the prelims. Lisbon was first with a state record time of 59.96.

On Friday, the schedule for N-P is:
- 9 a.m. — Boys high jump, Aiden Lamborn
- 9 a.m. — Girls distance medley relay: Jordyn Frost, Ellie Eick, Jalissa White and Kadence Huck.
- 10:40 a.m. — Boys 110 hurdles prelim: Kaden Wilken
- 2:10 p.m. — Boys 4×400 prelim: Wilken, Lamborn, Harrington and Evans
On Saturday, the schedule for N-P is:
- 10:30 a.m. — Girls 800M run: Huck
- 12:15 p.m. — Boys shuttle relay finals: Wilken, Lamborn, Harrington and Evans
- 1:15 p.m. — 110 hurdles: Wilken
- 2:45 p.m. — Girls 1500m run: Huck
- 4:20 p.m. — Boys 4×400 finals: Harrington, Blanchard, Wilken and Evans.
