The Iowa High School Athletic Association recently announced the new football districts for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Nashua-Plainfield is in Class A District 3 with: WHAT CHANGED: Grundy Center (13-0, 5-0) and Hudson (4-5, 3-3) moved out of District 3 . North Butler and South Winneshiek moved in. N-P to open football playoffs next week against West Hancock

To be the best, you need to beat the best. Nashua-Plainfield will get that chance on Friday, Oct. 21, when the Huskies (5-3) open the playoffs against one of the five undefeated teams in Class A. West Hancock, Britt (8-0) will host N-P in the first round of the 32-team state tournament. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Hudson 4-4, which beat N-P on Friday 20-14 to finish third in Class A District 4, will travel to to Newman Catholic, Mason City (7-1) on Friday. N-P fell to fourth. ACKLEY — The Huskies had cause to be concerned early in Friday night’s game. Although the Nashua-Plainfield offense drove 65 yards on its first possession of the game for a Titus Evans rushing touchdown, it failed on its 2-point conversion attempt. AGWSR answered with a 75-yard drive capped off with a Kaden Abbas touchdown plunge and a successful 2-point conversion. The Cougars grabbed an 8-6 lead. Postseason still possible for Oelwein football

So, there is a chance. A fighting chance. Oelwein’s ability to qualify for the postseason took a hit last week when Union (2-2 in district, 4-2 overall), rallied to win its Homecoming game over the Huskies, 34-24. But, if Oelwein (1-2, 2-4) can bounce back with a win Friday against Wahlert Catholic (2-1, 4-2), it could clinch Class 2A District 4’s fourth and final playoff spot by beating North Fayette Valley (1-2, 4-2) in the last week of the regular season. N-P football keeps streaks alive with 20-6 win at BCLUW Homecoming

HUSKIES LIFT SEASON RECORD TO 4-1 Nashua-Plainfield’s offense was really good at keep-away Friday night in Conrad. The Huskies rushed 58 times for 364 yards — both season highs — keeping the ball out of the hands of the BCLUW offense. And when the Comets had the ball, N-P took it right back, twice with interceptions. The 20-6 victory at BCLUW’s Homecoming lifted N-P to 4-1, keeping a couple of winning streaks alive. Charles City shuts down football program for 2 weeks because of COVID-19 infections

CHARLES CITY — Citing student safety as the top priority, school officials announced on Wednesday that the Charles City football program will be shut down for the next two weeks because of two COVID-19 infections among the players with the possibility of more. The Comets were scheduled to host Union-La Porte City this Friday and Western Dubuque next week. They traveled to New Hampton last Friday. The Chickasaws won 15-8. Nashua-Plainfield football back in action after COVID-19 scare

NASHUA — The Nashua-Plainfield football team will be in action Friday night after more details came out regarding a positive COVID-19 case. CHARLES CITY —A large head last seen in public during the Charles City 2016 Homecoming Pep Rally made an appearance Saturday night at the CCHS 2017 Prom Grand March. The bigger-than-life cardboard head of Prom king candidate Alex Koehler accompanied queen candidate Kristyn Pellymonter around the “red carpet” in the competition gym attached to the new middle school addition.
