Nashua morning update (Friday, Sept. 23)

Good morning, Nashua. Here is some local news to start your day:

1. WEATHER — The National Weather Service says that showers are likely today, mainly between 1-3 p.m., otherwise mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Breezy, with a south wind 7 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Tonight, there is a 20 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 50. South wind 6 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.

2. HUCK WINS, GIRLS XC TEAM TAKES 4TH— Nashua-Plainfield’s Kadence Huck took first in the varsity girls 5K race with a time of 19:54.30 on Thursday at the Central Springs Cross Country Invitational. The girls team placed fourth out of nine teams. Forest City, Newman Catholic and Central Springs placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. (Click here for full results)

3. N-P BOYS XC PLACES 6TH —Jase Hansen was the N-P boys cross country team’s highest finisher at 24th on Thursday at the Central Springs Cross Country Invitational with a time of 18:52.41. The Huskies as a team placed 6th out of eight teams. (Click here for full results)

4. FOOTBALL NIGHT — Fans will need to travel to Conrad to watch Nashua-Plainfield take on BCLUW. Both squads are 3-1. The Huskies tend to run more while the Comets like to pass. N-P is coming off a 32-12 Homecoming victory over North Tama. BCLUW beat North Butler 23-12. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. (Click here for more about the matchup.)
