Marching Comets earn highest possible rating at state band festival
FORT DODGE, Iowa — Beneath a darkened and stormy sky, the Charles City High School marching band performed the moody “Dark Knight” movie theme. Perfect. The rain also worked well with the theme to “Pirates of the Caribbean.” The marching Comets, whose show theme this year was “Heroes and Villians,” nailed their performance in the Iowa High School Marching Band Festival in Fort Dodge. Aquatic, forest and right-of-way continuing instruction course is Oct. 18
CHARLES CITY — Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Floyd County office will host an Aquatic, Forest and Right-of-Way Continuing Instruction Course (CIC) for commercial pesticide applicators on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The program provided by the ISU Extension and Outreach Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) can be seen at office locations across Iowa. NASHUA — The 4-H program will be hosting a 4-H Family Harvest Party 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Borlaug Learning Center near Nashua. The party will include hayrides and a free meal.
