2. HOMECOMING WEEK HAS BEGUN: Charles City High School students celebrated the beginning of Homecoming Week on Sunday evening with a bonfire at the Elks Lodge. However, Homecoming competitions between the classes began earlier. Just prior to the bonfire, a two-hand touch football tournament between girls teams was played at the College Grounds. Huskies win Homecoming, 32-12

Junior Titus Evans and sophomore Aiden Gelner combined for 218 of Nashua-Plainfield’s 253 rushing yards Friday night as the Huskies pounded out a 32-12 Homecoming victory over North Tama. Evans ran for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Gelner had 133 yards and two touchdowns, including the longest of the day for N-P of 41 yards. He also scored a 2-point conversion. Huskies senior quarterback Bo Harrington found some success in the air by completing five passes for 101 yards and one touchdown, which was a 23-yard reception by senior Joel Winters. Jeanes leads Huskies with 169 all-purpose yards, plus 1 passing and 1 rushing TD Oelwein rushed its way to a Homecoming victory over Jesup on Friday, 36-20. As a team, the Huskies piled up 386 yards and four touchdowns on 52 carries. The Huskies improved to 2-2. Jesup fell to 1-3. Senior quarterback Carter Jeanes ran nine times for 102 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown sprint. Rockford has a State Fair horse champ; N-P places team in top 10

Rockford FFA’s Jayden Jorgenson is a State Fair Horse Champion, winning the Flag Race title. The FFA Horse Show judged Tuesday and Wednesday prior to the 2022 Iowa State Fair. Nashua-Plainfield FFA, meanwhile, placed 9th for the Equestrian Team Award. New Hampton FFA took 10th. Agri-power FFA of Eddyville was 1st. R-R-MR joining Iowa Star Conference in 2024

Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock is leaving the Top of Iowa Conference for the Iowa Star Conference beginning in the 2024-25 school year. The R-R-MR School Board approved the change Monday night (Aug. 15, 2022). ” The board made the decision based on what they feel is in the best interest of our students,” Superintendent Todd Liechty wrote on the district’s Facebook page. “Currently, RRMR is the second smallest school in the Top of Iowa Conference and our students are struggling to compete.
