Nashua-Plainfield educator named Iowa History Teacher of the Year

Courtesy of the Iowa Department of Education: Monday, August 15, 2022 Suzan Turner, a social studies teacher at Nashua-Plainfield High School, has been named the 2022 Iowa History Teacher of the Year. Turner, who has taught in the Nashua-Plainfield Community School District for 18 years, received the award through the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, following a recommendation from an Iowa Department of Education committee. Nashua-Plainfield football back in action after COVID-19 scare

NASHUA — The Nashua-Plainfield football team will be in action Friday night after more details came out regarding a positive COVID-19 case. Rockford wins boys golf sectional; Nashua-Plainfield, North Butler sending individuals to districts

NASHUA — Juniors Zach Bushbaum and Nick Goodrich led the Rockford boys golf team to a first-place finish Friday at the Class 1A Boys Sectional Golf Meet at the Nashua Town and Country Club. Nashua-Plainfield and North Butler qualified individuals for next week’ district meet. At the sectional meet, Bushbaum defeated Saint Ansgar junior Dylan Low in a one-hole playoff for medalist. They were tied at 84 after 18 holes. Goodrich tied for third place with Saint Ansgar senior Ben Boerjan. They each scored an 85. N-P to auction off part of its Prom Grand March

NASHUA — Silken and shimmering gowns, elegant hairstyles and corsages. Sharp-creased tuxedos, cumber buns and bow ties. After the Nashua-Plainfield prom goers walk the path adorned to complement their glamor, stopping for photographs at a specially crafted pergola, the auction begins. To help fund future construction projects in the school’s   Tech Program, a cedar pergola that was hand-crafted by junior class students will be auctioned off at the end of the Grand March, which begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 29. Charles City boys and girls win home golf meet

CHARLES CITY — Jackson Molstead and Abby Milligan led the Comets boys and girls teams to first-place finishes Tuesday on their home course. Milligan won medalist status by shooting a 49 on Cedar Ridge Golf Course’s back 9. Teammate Gen Wandro was the runner-up with a 50. The girls team standings were 1. Charles City, 213; 2. North beats South in 39th All Star dual in Charles City; N-P wrestler collects title in freestyle tournament

CHARLES CITY — The North All-Stars defeated the South All-Stars despite the victories of two Comets. The 39th annual senior North vs. South All Star Wresting Meet was held Saturday, March 25, in the Charles City School District’s competition gym. The Charles City Mat Club and the Iowa National Guard sponsored the tournament. The 2017 Charles City Freestyle Tournament was earlier on Saturday.
