STATE TRACK: Local results, schedules

DES MOINES — Charles City’s Kiki Connell finished 12th in the girls 3000-meter run Thursday afternoon at the State Track and Field Championships. Her time was 11:05.03.

Her brother, senior Gavin Connell finished 24th in the boys 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:47.34

Junior Abby Marr, Riceville, won the Class 1A girls shot put championship with a put of 40 feet, 8.5 inches Thursday morning in Drake Stadium. She was seeded 10th in Flight 2.

  • Senior Nicole Heeren, North Butler, placed 10th with a put of 36 feet, 2.75 inches.

Clarksville long jumper finishes 17th — Senior Spencer Gray, of Clarksville, took 17th in Class 1A long jumping with an 18 foot, 9 inch leap Thursday morning at State Track.

Wildcat long jumper finishes 22nd — Riceville 9th grader Josie Gansen capped her first year of high school track with a trip to State. She finished 22nd in long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 0.25 inches.

Huskies relay team places 22nd at State — Nashua-Plainfield’ boys 4×800 meter relay team finished 22nd at Thursday afternoon at the State Track and Field Championships in Drake Stadium. The team notched a time of 8:46.36. It’s members are junior Isaac Chambers, senior Dayton Hansen, sophomore Ike Sinnwell and junior Luke Cerwinske.
