N-P girls track moves outside, places 4th in Saint Angar

The indoor track season is over, and on Tuesday the N-P girls track and field team competed in its first outdoor meet of the season, placing 4th. The Saints placed 1st with 137 points followed by Osage (130), West Fork (82), N-P (75), Northwood-Kensett (48), North Butler (40), Newman Catholic (25) and Riceville (20). N-P boys win track meet in Saint Ansgar

Every point counts. Sure, first place gets 10 team points, but that single point from a 6th place finish could make all the difference. That’s the message Nashua-Plainfield boys track and field head coach Chase Sudol imparted on his squad prior to Tuesday’s meet in Saint Ansgar. The Huskies wound up winning the meet by 3 points over the second-place Saints. Huck places 1st twice as 5 Huskies notch top 10 finishes at Wartburg invite

Nashua-Plainfield’s boys and girls varsity track and field teams competed in the Wartburg High School Invitational on Tuesday in Waverly. The 30-school field ranged from Class 1A to Class 4A. The top finisher for the Huskies was Kadence Huck, who placed first in the girls 400 with a time of 58.56 and the 800 at 2:23.04. Rinkens bring home two state wrestling championships, 3 others place

Nashua-Plainfield is home to two 2023 Class 1A state champions. Senior Garret Rinken completed an undefeated season, 51-0, by beating Wapsie Valley senior Dawson Schmit (40-8) by a 4-1 decision in the 126-pound championship match on Saturday at the State Traditional Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines. His younger brother, sophomore Jayden Rinken (47-2), defeated Wilton freshman Mason Shirk (47-4) by an 8-2 decision in the 106-pound championship match. Seven Nashua-Plainfield wrestlers have survived the first two days of the State Tradition Tournament in Des Moines. Four remain in contention for first-place finishes. Huskies Jayden Rinken (106), Nic Brase (113), Garrett Rinken (126) and Titus Evans (170) have advanced to the semifinals on Friday. Huskies advancing to Friday in the consolation bracket are Kendrick Huck (132), Kaden Wilken (138) and Alden Sullivan (195). Nashua-Plainfield is in third place as a team after Day 1 of Class 1A wrestling at the 2023 State Traditional Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines. Vance’s State Tournament run ends

Nashua-Plainfield sophomore Kylie Vance’s run at the State Girls Wrestling Championships ended after two matches to higher seeded wrestlers. Vance (16-10), who was seeded 25th, lost by fall in 56 seconds to Spencer junior Kalee Nachtigal (38-6), who was seeded 8th, in their first round 190-pound match at Xtreme in Coralville. N-P boys rocket past Rockford

ROCKFORD — The countdown stands at 16. Nashua-Plainfield’s Bo Harrington led all scorers Tuesday night in Rockford with 19 points as the Huskies won 65-29. Nic Goven led Rockford with 15 points. While Harrington’s performance helped the Huskies collect their sixth conference win of the season, it also put him within 16 of scoring his 1,000th career point. The Nashua-Plainfield girls wrestling team competed Monday at a 19-team tournament in Osage. Huskies Sara Babu and Ryan Reams place 4th and 7th, respectively, in their weight classes. At 100, Sara Babu went 2-2 and received a bye. She finished 4th. She pinned Annabelle Rohret of Cedar Falls at 5:45 and won a 15-11 decision over Hailey Peterson of Perry.
