Thirteen Nashua-Plainfield boys wrestlers qualified on Saturday for the State Traditional Tournament as the Huskies won the Class 1A District 5 tournament at North Linn. Catch-photo-release tournament encourages Iowa walleye anglers to report their catches

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is partnering for a second year with MyCatch by Angler’s Atlas to conduct a statewide walleye fishing challenge starting May 1 through June 30. The Iowa Chapter of the American Fisheries Society has joined as a research partner for the 2023 challenge. Anglers will have the chance to win weekly prizes while also contributing to fisheries research, helping improve walleye fishing in the state. Nashua-Plainfield sophomore Kylie Vance’s run at the State Girls Wrestling Championships ended after two matches to higher seeded wrestlers. Vance (16-10), who was seeded 25th, lost by fall in 56 seconds to Spencer junior Kalee Nachtigal (38-6), who was seeded 8th, in their first round 190-pound match at Xtreme in Coralville. Nashua-Plainfield sophomore Kylie Vance is going to the State Girls Wrestling Tournament. The Huskies traveled to Luther College in Decorah on Friday for the IGHSAU Region 7 Qualifier. Vance (16-9) placed third in the 190 weight class by pinning Mason City ninth-grader Taryn Boehmer (32-18) at 1:23. Vance began the day by pinning Boehmer in 48 seconds and then getting pinned at 1:52 by top-seeded Kamyrn Steines of Decorah. Vehicular homicide trial of West Union man scheduled in March
