Nashua AM Update (Feb. 9): Girls basketball postseason begins tonight

Good morning, it’s Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, the first day of the IGHSAU girls basketball postseason.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST

Today: A 30% chance of snow and freezing rain beginning before noon. Cloudy, with a high near 35. Breezy, with a northwest wind 11 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Tonight: A 20% chance of snow before 8 p.m. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 9. Wind chill values as low as -6. Blustery, with a northwest wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 24. Wind chill values as low as -7. Blustery, with a northwest wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

PLAYOFFS BEGIN TONIGHT

The Nashua-Plainfield girls basketball team travels to Dunkerton tonight for a Class 1A Region 6 First Round game. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. The Huskies enter the contest with a 5-16 record and are coming off a 42-31 victory at North Butler.. The Raiders are 9-12 having lost two in a row, first to by 1 point to BCLUW and then by 2 points to Newman Catholic.

These squads have not faced each other since 2014, when Dunkerton won 39-31.

Also in Region 6, Rockford (1-18) travels to Clarkville (14-7).

In Class 1A Region 1, North Butler (5-16) travels to Saint Ansgar (15-6)

NASHUA CITY COUNCIL TO HAVE SPECIAL MEETING SATURDAY

Charles City Area Development Corporation Executive Directory Tim Fox will meet with the Nashua City Council at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at City Hall. The agenda includes learning about serviced provided by CCADC, revisiting and amending economic development goals and , under the heading of Catalyst Grants, alternate plans for 216 Main St. and future projects.

COFFEE WITH THE COUNCIL ON SATURDAY AT LIBRARY

Coffee with the Council is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Nashua Public Library and all citizens are encouraged to come and visit with the council members.

NO EGG SALES AT THE WELCOME CENTER

Reacting to a post on Facebook about eggs being sold at the Welcome Center or through the Welcome Center Facebook page, the Nashua City Council decided on Monday to not allow the sale of eggs there or via the Welcome Center Facebook page.
