Molstead Motors plans $1.3M expansion, seeks $38K tax rebate from city

CHARLES CITY — Mike Molstead Motors plans to expand with a 7,200-square-foot addition that will have nine new service bays. It is also asking the city for some help with the $1.3 million project in terms of tax rebates which could amount to nearly $38,000 over five years. The Charles City Council will discuss the request at it’s planning meeting tonight (Monday, April 24).  “Mike Molstead Motors has proven to be an exceptionally successful business enterprise at 1501 South Grand Avenue,” Charles City Area Development Corp. Floyd County Board to discuss law enforcement center

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors workshop meeting begins at 9 a.m. Monday, April 24, in the Floyd County Courthouse board room.In the wake of the Charles City Council deciding last week to withdraw from a partnership to build a joint law enforcement center, the supervisors will discuss the next step. CHARLES CITY —A large head last seen in public during the Charles City 2016 Homecoming Pep Rally made an appearance Saturday night at the CCHS 2017 Prom Grand March. The bigger-than-life cardboard head of Prom king candidate Alex Koehler accompanied queen candidate Kristyn Pellymonter around the “red carpet” in the competition gym attached to the new middle school addition. ST. ANSGAR — Nashua-Plainfield junior Nicole Harrington’s score of 50 at the Acorn Park Recreation Area in St. Ansgar made her the medalist of Monday’s Girls golf meet. Rockford’s Abby Murray (51) and Sydney Fullerton (52), however led the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock team to a first-place finish.
