Nashua-Plainfield defeated North Butler, 7-1, on Monday at home. The Huskies have won four straight games to improve to 7-1. N-P and North Butler advance in Class 1A boys basketball playoffs
Nashua-Plainfield and North Butler are moving deeper into the postseason after first-round victories Monday night. The Huskies won 80-63 on the road over Waterloo Christian, setting up a showdown on Thursday in Fairbank. Nashua-Plainfield (12-10) will tip off at 7 p.m against Wapsie Valley (18-4). N-P senior Bo Harrington led his squad with 39 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Matthew Malven added 19 points followed by junior Tucker Franzen (8), senior Devin Johnson (6), senior Joel Winters (4). District play for Iowa high school softball begins next week. Here are the matchups for area teams: Class 1A, Region 4 Nashua-Plainfield travels Monday, July 3, for a 5:30 p.m. first-round game against host Dunkerton. Rockford wins boys golf sectional; Nashua-Plainfield, North Butler sending individuals to districts
NASHUA — Juniors Zach Bushbaum and Nick Goodrich led the Rockford boys golf team to a first-place finish Friday at the Class 1A Boys Sectional Golf Meet at the Nashua Town and Country Club. Nashua-Plainfield and North Butler qualified individuals for next week’ district meet. At the sectional meet, Bushbaum defeated Saint Ansgar junior Dylan Low in a one-hole playoff for medalist. They were tied at 84 after 18 holes. Goodrich tied for third place with Saint Ansgar senior Ben Boerjan. They each scored an 85. North beats South in 39th All Star dual in Charles City; N-P wrestler collects title in freestyle tournament
CHARLES CITY — The North All-Stars defeated the South All-Stars despite the victories of two Comets. The 39th annual senior North vs. South All Star Wresting Meet was held Saturday, March 25, in the Charles City School District’s competition gym. The Charles City Mat Club and the Iowa National Guard sponsored the tournament. The 2017 Charles City Freestyle Tournament was earlier on Saturday. More than 180 wrestlers from around the state competed. The North Iowa All-Stars defeated the South Iowa All-Stars 47-12, according to TrackWrestling.com.
