Nashua mayor: Rumor is wrong, the city is not broke

That’s the message Nashua Mayor Angelina Dietz tried to relay Monday responding to a community rumor and a city employee’s hesitancy to spend money on a project recently approved by the council. “I’ve heard that rumor too that we have no money,” Dietz said at Monday’s City Council meeting. “And that’s not true. Nashua to rehire campground host

NASHUA – Brian Stillions received the nod to return this year as the Cedar View Campground in Nashua. He was the only applicant.  The City Council at its Monday, April 3, meeting unanimously approved his hiring. The camp host receives a free campsite. The host is paid commissions for maintenance work, however. The campground opens for the season Thursday, April 13. The Charles City Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, March 27, 2017, in the Charles City High School (HS) library. CCMS tries to make lost items found

CHARLES CITY — Wondering where your middle schooler’s black and red high tops went? How about that Tampa Bay stocking cap? Well, it might be in the Charles City Middle School lost and found, but it won’t be much longer. The school posted a video on its Facebook page that shows the many items of clothing and more in hopes owners will come get them. “All of these items will be donated to The Treasure Chest by the end of the week if they are not claimed,” the post said. As nice as the weather was today in the Charles City area, the high temperature of 61 did not break the record set in 1918 of 73 degrees. It was also the first day of spring. Body of missing Fredericksburg woman found

FREDERICKSBURG, Iowa — The body of a missing Fredericksburg woman has been found. The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing woman last seen Friday evening in Fredericksburg. The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s help in finding Sheila Ludwig, 67. She was last seen Friday wearing dark gray sweatpants, a purple crew neck sweatshirt, and winter boots. She was diabetic and insulin dependent. “If you have not heard, the search has officially ended,” Fredericksburg Mayor Shain Kroenecke posted on the city’s Facebook page at about 11:30 a.m. Monday. St. Patrick’s Day patrols to help CCPD buy in-car cameras

CHARLES CITY — More police than usual will be on the roads this St. Patrick’s Day weekend. NASHUA — The Nashua Public Library is gathering local heroes for its Heroes Day event from 11 a.m. To 1 p.m. April 15.
