N-P boys take 2nd at Hudson Wrestling Invite

Nashua-Plainfield placed second as a team at the Hudson Wrestling Invitational that wrapped up Saturday. Don Bosco took first with 232 team points, followed by N-P with 202.5, according to Track Wrestling. Four Huskies made it to their weight class championship matches, with two winning. Nic Brase took first at 113 by defeating Don Bosco’s Cole Frost in an 8-3 decision. Garret Rinken won the 126 title by pinning North Fayette Valley’s Tate Germann at 1:16. SUV crosses centerline, causes crash outside Fairbank

The collision of an SUV and a pickup northeast of Fairbank seriously injured their occupants on Sunday. At 10:42 a.m., Jan. 15, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a two-vehicle accident on Y Ave. south of 40th Street.  A 2016 Chevy Equinox operated by Isaac Buzynksi, 21, of Fairbank crossed the center line and collided with a 2000 Chevy S10 pickup operated by Eric Sterba, 50, of Sumner, says a news release from the Sheriff’s Office. Fayette County inmate charged with attempted murder of jail staffer

An inmate is facing an attempted murder charge after allegedly assaulting a correctional officer at the Fayette County Jail this week, causing serious injuries. Jeannie Marie Murphy, 48, made an initial court appearance on Tuesday, Jan. 10. She was charged with attempted murder (Class B felony) and assault on persons in certain occupations using or displaying a dangerous weapon (Class D felony). Her bail was set at $25,000 cash or surety. N-P School Board asking voters to OK financing plan for sports complex

The Nashua-Plainfield school district plans to finance construction of a baseball and softball complex in Plainfield one of two ways, neither of which affects property taxes. The Board of Education at its regular meeting on Monday approved resolutions to make either possible. Regardless of the way the debt is incurred, the district will use sales tax revenue from the state to pay it off. The statewide 1 cent local option sales tax, which voters reauthorized in the fall — called Secure an Advanced Education or SAVE funding — is designated for school facilities. ROCKFORD — The countdown stands at 16. Nashua-Plainfield’s Bo Harrington led all scorers Tuesday night in Rockford with 19 points as the Huskies won 65-29. Nic Goven led Rockford with 15 points. While Harrington’s performance helped the Huskies collect their sixth conference win of the season, it also put him within 16 of scoring his 1,000th career point.
