School Board meeting tonight; report shows enrollment drop

The Charles City Board of Education will meet at 6:15 p.m. tonight in the high school library.

A monthly enrollment report is on the agenda that shows a drop from 1,516 students on Oct. 1 to 1,507 on Jan. 1.

WSR seeks to remain in NEIC until 2024

The Charles City School Board will vote tonight on an agreement to allow Waverly-Shell Rock to temporarily remain in the Northeast Iowa Conference.

Details of the agreement are:

Waverly-Shell Rock will remain a member of the Conference for the 2023-2024 school year.

• WSR’s membership will end at the close of the 2023-2024 school year.

• WSR agrees that it will not take any action that seeks to extend its membership in the

NEIC when its membership ceases at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

• Other than conference championship events, new members of the NEIC will not be required to compete against WSR.

• The agreement will become effective upon ratification by the Waverly-Shell Rock Board of Education and a majority of the Boards of the Conference member districts.
