A tractor pull held Saturday, June 3, at the Big 4 Fairgrounds raised funds for Nashua causes. Handwritten signs around the grandstand announced that all donations would go to “Help Save The Cabin,” the Nashua Fireman Foundation, the Gateway to Northern Iowa Welcome Center, the Children’s Cancer Connection and the Big 4 Fair. Huskies beat Saints, 7-0

Nashua-Plainfield’s Dawson Glaser pitched seven shutout innings Wednesday to ice a 7-0 win against Saint Ansgar. Making his second start on the mound this season, Glaser struck out seven batters while walking none and scattering five hits. In his first outing on May 23, he pitched 6 1/3 innings and struck out 12 in N-P’s 5-3 win over Central Springs. N-P improved its record to 4-1. The Saints fell to 5-3. Nashua-Plainfield sophomore Kadence Huck captured the Class 1A state title in the girls 400m dash today at the Iowa High School Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. She finished with a personal best time of 55.94. Today is the first day of the state track meet, which goes through Saturday. N-P boys place 5th in sectional tournament, Rockford 2nd, North Butler 3rd

AGWSR won Wednesday’s Class 1A Boys Sectional Golf Tournament at Nashua Town and Country by 35 strokes. After 18 holes, AGWSR scored 335 as a team, followed by Rockford (370), North Butler (372), Dunkerton (386), Nashua-Plainfield (392), Clarksville (428) and Riceville (433). Dogs sniff for drugs at CC high school and middle school, as planned

Drug-sniffing dogs went through Charles City High School and Middle School today, as planned. The plans to search lockers and backpacks for illegal drugs was announced back in April, according to a message posted today on the School district website. It includes a link to a letter to the public by Superintendent Anne Lundquist explaining the search and decision to collaborate with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. “The primary goal for doing so is to strengthen our partnership with law enforcement and maintain a healthy learning environment in our schools,” Lundquist said.
