Bad weather steps aside; Comets, Huskies and Green Devils tee off

CHARLES CITY — Great Scott, area prep golfer has a meet Monday at Cedar Ridge Golf Course. Just last Wednesday, April 18, a record 6.6 inches of snow fell across Charles City and the Comets’ home course. On Monday, there was no snow, no sleet, no bitter cold, and not even flooding, fire or ice. Matter of fact, the temperature peaked at 68 degrees here as the golfers hit the greens. New owners of Cedar Ridge Golf Course get liquor license

CHARLES CITY — Floyd County granted a liquor license to new Cedar Ridge Golf Course owners Cary A. and Dena Perez. The Board of Supervisors voted 3-0 for a class C liquor license. It’s term would be 8 months effective from March 20. Auditor Gloria Carr said the owners were hoping to have it in place in time for an April 5 event.
