CHARLES CITY -— The dates have been set for this year’s spring clean up! April 24, 25, 26 and 27 are the dates with mattresses and box springs being picked up on April 24. As in past years, the city asks hat you do not set out items before April 22. If you violate this rule, you may be subject to a nuisance citation. New CCPD officers now gun certified
CHARLES CITY — Charles City’s newest police officers are now certified with guns.According to a post on the police department’s Facebook page Reserve Officer Dustin Haberkorn of Charles City and full-time Officer Nathan Cork out of Illinois spent Wednesday at the gun range with certified firearms instructor Brad Bilharz, also a Charles City police officer. “They both did excellent, shooting hundreds of rounds each in the cool and muddy conditions and still came away with great scores,” the post said. CHARLES CITY, Iowa — Thousands of the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa riders will stop overnight in Charles City on Wednesday, July 26. The next morning, the bicycle tour heads into more hilly terrain beyond Charles City. So, focusing on Wednesday also being known as “hump day,” the Charles City RAGBRAI executive committee announced the local theme will be “Last Hump Before The Hills.” Charles City radio station KCHA reported Wednesday that executive committee member Cory Mutch designed the logo after much discussion. NASHUA – Brian Stillions received the nod to return this year as the Cedar View Campground in Nashua. He was the only applicant. The City Council at its Monday, April 3, meeting unanimously approved his hiring. The camp host receives a free campsite. The host is paid commissions for maintenance work, however.
