Water Over The Dam Days just more than 2 months away; Mud Run needs help

NASHUA, Iowa — As it gets warmer thoughts turn to music, fun, food and mud.

Water Over the Dam Days will be Thursday, June 22 to Sunday, June 25. This year’s casino-centered theme is “What Happens in Nashua … Stays In Nashua.”

Organizers are taking nominations for Water Over The Dam Days Parade Grand Marshals. Send nominations to curlyclean@gmail.com.

Scheduled events include a beanbag tournament, golf tournament, sand volleyball and the Nashua Fire Department 2nd annual Car Show.

The live music lineup includes Endless Summer (12:30-4 p.m. Saturday, June 24, Georgia Clay Band (8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, June 24), Lady Luck Band (8 p.m. to midnight Friday, June 23) and the Waterhawks ski team

The Mud Run start time is 6 p.m., Friday, June 23, at Cedar View Park. The rain date is Saturday, June 24, beginning at 5 p.m.) Showers will be available at the Cedar View Campground and at the Big Four Fairgrounds.

Registration must be postmarked by June 13 to receive a T-shirt and get a $5 discount.

Organizers are seeking help in recovering from last year’s flood damage.

“The Flood of 2016 took every single Mud Run obstacle down the river,”  Tori Ulrichs wrote in February on the Water Over The Dam Facebook page. “Five years of obstacles are now gone. In an effort to try to re-coup and re-build, we will need A LOT of help. Both in the form of donations and man power to get these re-built.”

Keep track of fundraisers at the Facebook page. Donations can also be mailed to PO BOX 862, Nashua IA 50658.

“We really want to continue with the Mud Run,” Ulrichs wrote. “However, our budget can’t handle the cost to rebuild 5 years of obstacles that we had.”
