Next phase of Rockford streetlight project begins Friday, Aug. 10

ROCKFORD — The city of Rockford announced this week that the next phase of the Rockford Street Light Project begins Friday, Aug. 10. Four feet of sidewalk on the 100 block of West Main (both north and south sides) will be torn out and replaced. Matching antique light poles will be installed. Iowa DNR News Release The rusty patched bumble bee was designated as endangered by the federal government in 2017, after determining that the population had declined 87 percent in the last 20 years and is only present on 0.1 percent of its historic range. Named after the rusty patch centrally located on the backs of workers and males, but not queens, it once occupied grasslands and tallgrass prairies in the Upper Midwest and Northeast. NASHUA — Phone scams are not exclusively from voice calls anymore. Now, they’re coming through text messaging. The Nashua Police Department on Tuesday evening posted a warning about this on its Facebook page. “Please be aware there are many scams being sent on all sorts of media,” the post says. “Remember: If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. The word from the DNR is that smallmouth bass are gobbling up crawdad crankbaits along rocky shorelines of the Cedar River north of Nashua. Here are fishing reports from the DNR for this week: Clear Lake Surface water temperature is 72 degrees. Walleye – Fair: Jig a minnow or leech above submerged vegetation in 6 to 10 feet of water. Channel Catfish – Good: Use stink bait or cut bait fished on the bottom after sunset. Black Crappie – Good: Try fishing the edge of the vegetation with a jig and minnow.
