Fishing Report: Ice-out channel catfish are biting
Iowa DNR news release Channel catfish move close to shore and are eager to bite in many lakes and the large reservoirs across Iowa just after the ice is gone. The bite starts sooner in the southern Iowa impoundment since they lose ice a week or two before northeast Iowa natural lakes. After eating light during the winter, channel catfish go on a feeding frenzy in early spring cleaning up small fish that died over the winter. Flooding a distinct possibility this week
As of Monday, it was still easy to find snow banks along Highway 218 taller than a car. Rural roadside ditches throughout north-central Iowa are filled with snow. The landscape is going to change beginning Tuesday as an abnormal warm-up will jumpstart a meltdown, and create dangerous situations. RUDD — Emergency responders are on the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the Avenue of the Saints near Rudd. A vehicle is upside down in the median and responders appear to be trying to extricate someone. The road conditions are sloppy wet. The shoulders are layered with ice and slush.
