Tuesday night storm kicks off stretch of wet weather

If you are reading this at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, you likely also are hearing the high winds, driving rain and thunder passing through the Floyd and Chickasaw county region. This is just the beginning of a wet stretch of days. Authorities release name of third victim in April 20 crash

CHARLES CITY — Authorities have released the name of the third man to die as the result of two pickup trucks colliding Friday, April 20, at 210th and Woodside Avenue outside Charles City. Douglas Lee Mack, 60, of Charles City was driving the 2002 GMC Sierra that was struck by the 2011 Dodge Ram that went through a stop sign. The State Patrol did not immediately release his name. The Dodge Ram was driven by Jacob Allen Mahnesmith, 28, of Nashua, who along with a passenger — Shane Allen Wiltse, 28 of Charles City — also died. Ice Cream Ticket Season begins May 15 in Nashua

NASHUA — It’s almost Ice Cream Ticket Season! 3 people die after trucks crash outside Charles City; some funeral services announced

CHARLES CITY — Three people are dead after two pickups collided Friday evening at 210th and Woodside Avenue outside Charles City. According to the Iowa State Patrol, Jacob Allen Mahnesmith, 28, of Nashua, Shane Allen Wiltse, 28 of Charles City and a third person died as a result of the crash. Snow expected to begin Sunday, mess with Monday morning commute

A winter weather advisory that includes Chickasaw, Floyd and Mitchell counties will be in effect from 1 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday. Another 2 to 4 inches of spring snow will fall across southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa, according to the National Weather Service. Dance to Farm Rock at tonight’s Nashua Fireman’s Ball

NASHUA, Iowa — You still have time to get to the Nashua Fireman’s Ball tonight (April 7). The dance is from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Nashua Town & Country Club (2898 Asherton Ave.). CC to conduct tornado drill on Wednesday

CHARLES CITY — The Charles City Police Department will conduct a tornado drill Wednesday, March 28, at 10:15 a.m. to coordinate with the National Weather Service’s annual drill, weather permitting. If you have a weather radio, it will be activated by the NWS also. Normally, Charles City will test the sirens during a drill the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. and will continue throughout the spring and summer months. Weekend storm dropped up to 17 inches of snow

Nora Springs found itself digging out from 17 inches of snow over the weekend. Rockford had 16, while Charles City received 14. The snowstorm that began Friday evening, March 23, and finished Saturday, March 24, blanketed the region with up to 17 inches, according to a National Weather Service.
