3 people die after trucks crash outside Charles City; some funeral services announced

CHARLES CITY — Three people are dead after two pickups collided Friday evening at 210th and Woodside Avenue outside Charles City.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Jacob Allen Mahnesmith, 28, of

Nashua, Shane Allen Wiltse, 28 of Charles City and a third person died as a result of the crash.

Thomas John Parcher , 29, of Marble Rock was injured.

A combined gathering of family and friends of Mahnesmith and Wiltse will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Mahnesmith will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua.

Services for Wiltse will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City.

According to the State Patrol crash report online, a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup driven westbound on 210th St. by Mahnesmith went through a stop sign at about 5 p.m. and struck a 2002 GMC Sierra pickup that was northbound  on Woodside. As of Saturday at 5:30 p.m., authorities had not released the name of the Sierra’s driver, who has died.

Wiltse and Parcher were passengers in the Ram.

The crash is under investigation, the State Patrol says.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Charles City Police and Fire

Departments, AMR Ambulance, Mercy Air helicopter and Nashua Police responded to the scene.
