News Release More than half of Iowa farmland is rented.  In some Iowa locations, as much as 70 percent of the land is farmed by farmers who don’t own the land. In Northeast Iowa, the result is many conversations and negotiations between farmland owners and producer-tenants to determine what makes sense for farmland leases and cash rental rates – both fixed rent and flexible arrangements.  Strong landlord/tenant relationships are important for the long-term viability of Iowa’s farming communities. Sunday Weather: Storm cancels softball finales

UPDATE: With dark clouds closing in and the wind picking up around 4 p.m. Sunday the Charles City Youth Softball League cancelled the final two games of its tournament on Sunday. According to the National Weather Service, the temperature in Charles City dropped from 90 degrees at 3:55 p.m. to 68 at 4:55 p.m. PREVIOUS REPORT: A line of strong to severe storms will continue southeastward through 5 p.m., with the strongest storms capable of damaging 60 mph wind gusts. Iowa DNR Cedar River (above Nashua) Water levels are falling, but current remains high. Water clarity is improving. Water temperatures are in the upper 60’s. Use caution when boating in higher flows. Channel Catfish – Good: Catfish action is picking up with warmer water. Use dead chubs or chicken livers fished in the impoundments or shallow slack water areas. Keep your bait on the river bottom. CC’s South Main Street closure delayed until July 8
