Courtesy of the Iowa Department of Education: Monday, August 15, 2022 Suzan Turner, a social studies teacher at Nashua-Plainfield High School, has been named the 2022 Iowa History Teacher of the Year. Turner, who has taught in the Nashua-Plainfield Community School District for 18 years, received the award through the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, following a recommendation from an Iowa Department of Education committee. Nashua-Plainfield football back in action after COVID-19 scare

NASHUA — The Nashua-Plainfield football team will be in action Friday night after more details came out regarding a positive COVID-19 case. N-P senior Caleb Ulrichs passes away

NASHUA — Nashua-Plainfield senior Caleb Ulrichs, 18, passed away Sunday at his home surrounded by his family, according to an obituary posted on the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home site. Funeral services are pending. Caleb was diagnosed this summer with leukemia and was treated at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Nashua student to receive Presidential Scholar Award

NASHUA — Nashua-Plainfield student Caleb Lines has been selected as one of 161 seniors for the U.S. Presidential Scholar Award. He’ll travel to DC in June to receive his medallion from President Donald Trump, the school district announced Tuesday. Lines was chosen out of 10 Iowa semi-finalists. A news release from the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program says it was established in 1964 by presidential executive order to recognize and honor some of our nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. NASHUA — Soon-to-be graduates from Nashua-Plainfield High School are less than three weeks from graduation. On May 16, their Baccalaureate begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Senior Awards at 7:30 p.m. In the school gymnasium. Graduation is at 2:30 p.m. May 20 in the gymnasium. NASHUA — The latest blast of winter weather will disrupt classes for Nashua-Plainfield students for a second day on Tuesday, March 5.Nashua-Plainfield schools will start two-hours late on Tuesday. The National Weather Service’s forecast for Tuesday warns of more snow before 2 p.m. and then a chance of rain and snow until 4 p.m. Skies will remain cloudy, and the high temp should reach 36.
