Sumner-Fredericksburg junior Hillary Trainor (40-5) placed fourth in the 105 weight class at the IGHSAU State Wrestling Championships.
She opened tournament at Xtreme Arena in Coralville on Thursday by winning four straight matches . Trainor pinned West Marshall junior Brooklynn Rudkin (13-12) in 58 seconds. Trainor was seeded 3rd. Rudkin was seeded 29th.
Trainor then won by a 7-1 decision over Mount Pleasant senior Ella McNamee (24-4) in the second round. She was seeded 13th.
She won by an 11-4 decision over Durant junior Lainey Shelangoski (27-5), who was seeded 12th.
Then this morning (Friday, Feb. 3), top seeded Jillian Worthen (26-0), a junior from Union Community, defeated Trainor by fall at 3:44.
Dropping into the Consolation bracket, Trainor won an 8-7 decision over 3rd seeded Mckenna Rogers, (37-3) a ninth-grader from Solon.
In the 3rd place match, Trainor lost to 6th seeded Taylor Strief (37-4), a ninth-grader from Bettendorf. Strief won by a 6-0 decision.
S-F sophomore Isabel Christensen (30-19) lost her first round 125 match by fall at 1:40 to Waverly-Shell Rock senior Eva Heise (45-5). Christiansen was seeded 20 and Heise was seeded 13.
Christensen’s tournament ended with a lose in her first Consolation bracket match. Central Elkader junior Taylor Moser (29-19), who was seeded 20th, won by fall at 3:40.
S-F sophomore Ella Pitz (24-21) lost her first round 130 pound match by fall at 2:46 to East Buchanan sophomore Destiny Krum (46-6). Pitz was seeded 30. Krum was 3.
Pitz was eliminated in her first Consolation bracket match. Mason City senior Alexis Hoeft (37-9), who was seeded 19th, won by fall at 9 seconds.
