FRIDAY UPDATE: S-F’s Trainor takes 4th at State Wrestling

Sumner-Fredericksburg junior Hillary Trainor (40-5) placed fourth in the 105 weight class at the IGHSAU State Wrestling Championships. She opened tournament at Xtreme Arena in Coralville on Thursday by winning four straight matches . Trainor pinned West Marshall junior Brooklynn Rudkin (13-12) in 58 seconds. Trainor was seeded 3rd. Rudkin was seeded 29th. Trainor then won by a 7-1 decision over Mount Pleasant senior Ella McNamee (24-4) in the second round. She was seeded 13th. She won by an 11-4 decision over Durant junior Lainey Shelangoski (27-5), who was seeded 12th. S-F’s Trainor wins varsity girls 5K at NICL conference meet; Oelwein runners set personal and season records

LA PORTE CITY — Hillary Trainor gave Sumner-Fredericksburg another championship title today. The junior won the varsity girls 5K at the North Iowa Cedar League conference meet at the La Porte City Golf Course with a time of 19:19.6. Jesup sophomore MacKenzie Wilson was second with a time of 19:21.4. Denver freshman Avery Trunkhill placed third with a personal best time of 19:31.9, leading the Cyclones to a first-place team finish with 47 points. S-F’s Trainor wins New Hampton Invitational cross country meet

FREDERICKSBURG — At the top the cross country running route at Plum Creek Golf Course, Hillary Trainor broke away from the lead pack, which just powered up gradual but long climb. The Sumner-Fredericksburg junior went on the win the varsity girls 5K run with a time of 19:19.2 Crestwood junior Kinze Shea was second with her personal best time of 19:33.1 followed by New Hampton senior Campbelle Kolbet (third, 19:36.4), Nashua-Plainfield sophomore Kandace Huck (fourth, 19:52.4, personal best), and Wapsie Valley junior Ava Vandaele (fifth, 20:13.2, personal best).
