
Charles City’s Destiny Kolheim and Lily Luft won gold and Liz Oleson took silver Friday night at an invitation only tournament in Coralville.
Ten members of the Comets girls wrestling team competed in the Dan Gable Donnybrook held Thursday and Friday at Xtreme Arena. It featured at least 24 of the best girls wrestling teams in the Midwest, according to the Charles City Wrestling Facebook page.
Charles City as a team had 26 wins, 16 losses and placed 9th.
Kolheim won the 155 championship by an 8-6 decision over Grace Alagbo of Apple Valley, Minnesota. She was 4-0 in the tournament.
Luft won the 135 championship over Zoey Barber of Omaha West Side. Luft was leading 6-1 when she won by fall. She finished at 4-0 as well.
In the 140 title match, Kiara Djoumessi of Waverly won by fall over Oleson, who finished 3-1.
