West Central opened the 2022 volleyball postseason with a 3-0 (25-6, 25-12 and 25-21) victory at home over Kee on Monday. That earned the Blue Devils a shot at Don Bosco tonight in Gilbertsville.
The Kee Hawks finished the season with a 1-23 record, but the Dons (26-12) had wrapped up their 25-12 regular season ranked 8th in Class 1A.
Don Bosco swept West Central 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-16), capping the Blue Devils season record at 8-14.
West Central will lose one senior to graduation, Abby Squires, who this season was the last remaining player from the 2019 team that won the Upper Iowa Conference Championship.
The Class 1A Region 6 semi-finals on Monday, Oct. 24 will see Don Bosco hosting Calamus-Wheatland (20-17) and 10th-ranked North Cedar (26-9) hosting Edgewood-Colesburg (16-19).
Visiting E-C on Wednesday upset North Linn (20-11) in five sets. The Vikings won 3-2 (21-25, 13-25, 25-18, 26-24, 15-13.)
