2. TRUNK OR TREAT TODAY — Full Circle Services Trunk or Treat will be 5-8 p.m, Oct. 19, at the Knights of Columbus parking lot in Oelwein. Popcorn, hot cocoa and lots of goodies.

Huskies selected for Honor Band — The Oelwein Band Department yesterday announced 9-12th grade members being selected to the 2022 NICL Conference Honor Band on Nov. 15. They are Isabelle, Amaya, Amera, Leo, Macy, Dylan, Jory, and Sara.

5. FAMILY HALLOWEEN BOWLING PARTY ON OCT. 29 — Viper Lanes in Oelwein is having a Halloween family bowling party on Saturday, Oct. 29. There will be a costume parade at 3:30 p.m. with prizes for the top 3 costumes Must be signed up for bowling to be eligible for prizes. The bowling party will be 4-6 p.m. and the cost includes bowling, shoes, pitcher of pop and a 16-inch single topping pizza for $50 per lane for 3 people; $10 for each additional person. 6. MAYNARD COMMUNITY CLUB FALL EVENT ON OCT. 29 — A costume contest, lunch, kids games, fire trucks and more will be part of the Fall Event coming up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Admission is a free will donation.

- Fairbank man accepts plea deal in sex abuse case — The Buchanan County Attorney’s Office has reached a plea agreement with Tyler Alan Welter, 27, of Fairbank, that will mark him as a sexual predator of children and send him to prison. (Click here for full story)
- Oelwein man charged in marijuana, meth and cocaine case — Estaban Ricardo Carrasco Jr., 21, of Oelwein, is charged with four controlled substance violations. According to court documents, the Oelwein Police Department conducted controlled buys of illegal drugs on Aug. 7 and Aug. 16. Both times, Carrasco arrived in a red in Cadillac registered to his father. On Aug. 7, he allegedly delivered 1.018 grams of marijuana and 2.285 grams of cocaine. On Aug.16, he allegedly delivered 3.319 grams of cocaine and 9.985 grams of methamphetamine. (Full story)
