Friday night football scoreboard (Sept. 30)

The Iowa High School football postseason picture is forming. In Classes A, 1A and 2A, the district champion, district runner-up, district third place team, and the district fourth place team will qualify for the playoffs. In Eight-Player, the district champion, district runner-up and district third place team and two statewide at-large qualifiers will qualify for the playoffs.

Class A District 3

Wapsie Valley 48, South Winneshiek 24 —WV’s Traeton Sauerbrei scored rushing touchdowns from 40, 70, and 74 yards out. Braden Knight had touchdown runs of 3, 14 and 32 yards. Hunter Kane pounded 3 yards for a touchdown

Grundy Center 35, Nashua-Plainfield 8 — The Huskies avoided a shutout with a 56-yard scoring drive in the 4th quarter. Titus Evans got the touchdown with a 10-yard run. He also ran in the 2-point conversion. The big play on the drive was a 45-yard pass from Bo Harrington to Kaden Wilken. N-P is 3-3 against Grundy Center dating back to 2008.

North Fayette Valley 70, Jesup 21 — NFV quarterback Decklyn Heins passed for 145 yards and two touchdowns. Ayden Burrow ran for 182 yards and three touchdowns on seven carries.
