Oelwein girls crack top 25 at Denver cross county meet

Jesup sophomore Mackenzie Wilson placed first in the girls 5K today at the Denver Cross County Invitational with a time of 19:54.1. Sumner-Fredericksburg junior Hillary Trainor was second at 19:57.5.

Wapsie Valley’s top finisher was junior Ava VanDaele in eighth at 21:33.6.

Oelwein’s top finisher was junior Rachel Rulapaugh in 20th at 22:50.3. Junior Libby Gearhart was 21st at 23:08.1.

Denver took first as a team with 45 points. Jesup was second, S-F third, and Union fourth after tiebreakers. They each had 97 points.

Dike-New Hartford was fifth (106), followed by Wapsie Valley sixth (136), Oelwein seventh (157) and BCLUW eighth (186).
