Turkey hunters reminded – new law allowing .410 becomes effective on July 1

IOWA DNR The Iowa Legislature recently passed a law allowing .410s as a legal method of take to hunt wild turkeys. This new law will be effective beginning July 1, 2022, and DNR will develop rules to implement the new law. “This is just a reminder to our hunters that our seasons and regulations are set up to a year ahead of time and, like other regulations changes, we incorporate the new laws into our upcoming seasons,” said Todd Bishop, chief of wildlife for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. NEWS RELEASE FROM CCFD:   CHARLES CITY – The Charles City Fire Department (CCFD) responded to a 911 report of a structure fire at 701 Milwaukee St. in Charles City at about 9:05 p.m. Wednesday evening. Upon arrival, smoke was coming from a second story apartment of the 6-apartment complex. First arriving Police officers and Firefighters worked to alert and evacuate each of the apartments, as the next arriving Firefighters made entry with an interior attack of the fire. CCFD NEWS RELEASE CHARLES CITY –  The Charles City Fire Department was called to a house fire early Tuesday morning at 3:47AM, with a 911 report to the Floyd County Dispatch Center of a lightning strike to their home causing fire to be seen from the roof at the time of the 911 call. The CCFD responded to 2198 Old Highway Road, just Southeast of Charles City. It will be different from past cleanups in that it is scheduled in two parts: From April 12-23 residents can order a dumpster that they have one day to fill. A combination of seasonably warm temperatures, dry air, and gusty winds will produce elevated fire weather conditions this afternoon across much of north-central and western Wisconsin, southeast Minnesota, and northeast Iowa, according to the National Weather Service office in La Crosse. “Relative humidity will be as low as 15 to 25 percent, mainly across portions of western and central Wisconsin. Southerly winds of 15 to 20 mph will gust to 25 to 35 mph, strongest west of the Mississippi River. Beginning at 8 a.m. March 2, the next group of people eligible for COVID-19 vaccination can register through Floyd County Public Health. This group includes people with disabilities living in home settings that are dependent on attendant care staff. The attendant care staff are also eligible. Visit http://www.floydcoia.org and click on COVID SIGN UP. People in previously announced eligible groups can also still sign up.
