Area girls qualify for State Wrestling Tournament

Oelwein sophomore Ryley Hartman (31-9) is the Region 7 champion of the 110-pound weight class. She pinned junior Emma Hall of the North Central Trailblazers (20-6) at 1:59 of the title match on Friday at Luther College in Decorah.

She and girls from North Fayette Valley, Tripoli and Sumner-Fredericksburg now are headed to the State Wrestling Tournament that will be Feb. 2-3 at Xtreme Arena in Coralville. The top 4 from each weight class at regional tournaments across Iowa qualified.

NFV sophomore Macy Rose and junior Ava Bilden of North Fayette Valley placed fourth at 100 and 105, respectively.

Tripoli senior Nicole Williams finished fourth at 170.

Sumner-Fredericksburg junior Hillary Trainor (39-4) pinned Alburnett sophomore Jerzey Shultz (17-6) at 1:32 in the 105 championship match of the Region 8 Qualifier also held at Luther College on Friday.

S-F sophomores Isabel Christensen (30-9) Ella Pitz (24-20) are also state bound. Christensen placed second at 125. Pitz was fourth at 130.
