Huck takes 1st, Huskies 5th at Union cross country meet

Kadence Huck picked up where she left off last season as she took first individually in the girls 5K at the Union Invitational on Thursday in La Porte City. As a team, the Huskies finished fifth out of seven teams. Huck had a time of 19:20.9. Amilia Condon of Union was second at 19:33.4. In the Class 1A championship race last year, Huck finished 10th with a time of 19:27.07. Her season best was 19:16.7. N-P at State Track, Day 3: Huck wins 800m title; hurdle team 7th

Nashua-Plainfield’s third day at the Iowa High School Track & Field Championships began with another record-breaking performance. Huskies sophomore Kadence Huck won the Class 1A girls 800m run with a personal best time of 2:11.75, another school record. Later, Huck was 2nd in the 1500m run with a time of 4:35.44. Cal-Wheatland sophomore Noelle Steines took first with a state record time of 4:35.43. The boys shuttle hurdle relay team of Kaden Wilken, Aiden Lamborn, Bo Harrington and Titus Evans finished 7th with a time of 1:02.13. N-P girls track moves outside, places 4th in Saint Angar

The indoor track season is over, and on Tuesday the N-P girls track and field team competed in its first outdoor meet of the season, placing 4th. The Saints placed 1st with 137 points followed by Osage (130), West Fork (82), N-P (75), Northwood-Kensett (48), North Butler (40), Newman Catholic (25) and Riceville (20). N-P’s INDIVIDUAL RESULTS 100 dash — Emily Becker, 2nd, 14.61 (8 points). 200 dash — Liz Kruckenberg, 3rd, 29.97 (6 points).
