Floyd County Board to consider more funding for communications position

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors on Monday plans to review and possibly vote on a communications and marketing partnership with the Charles City school district, municipal government and Area Development Corporation. The board will meet at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, in the Floyd County Courthouse Assembly Room. At the board’s Oct. 17 meeting, city and school district officials urged the county to join a 28E agreement to fund a community marketing and promotion liaison position. Musical comedy ‘The Wedding Singer’ begins 3-show run today in Charles City

Beginning at 8 a.m. March 2, the next group of people eligible for COVID-19 vaccination can register through Floyd County Public Health. This group includes people with disabilities living in home settings that are dependent on attendant care staff. The attendant care staff are also eligible. Visit http://www.floydcoia.org and click on COVID SIGN UP. People in previously announced eligible groups can also still sign up. Charles City to host flood map meeting August 14

News Release CHARLES CITY — On Aug 14, the IDNR and FEMA will host an open house to present preliminary floodplain maps to Floyd County citizens.  The meeting will be held at the Charles City Council Chambers at city hall, 105 Milwaukee Mall, Charles City on Tuesday, August 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  This meeting is open to the public. Floyd County rejects establishing local CAFO worker safety standards 

  CHARLES CITY  — A resolution to set some worker safety standards for confined animal feeding operations in Floyd County failed to pass at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. Supervisor Mark Kuhn offered the revised resolution on Tuesday after it was apparent at a previous supervisors meeting he did not have the support of either Supervisor Linda Tjaden or Chairman Doug Kamm. Floyd County Attorney gives birth

CHARLES CITY — The Floyd County Attorney’s Office is celebrating today.  Faith Ginbey has arrived. An announcement of her birth is posted outside the office in the courthouse.  County Attorney Rachel Ginbey gave birth to Faith on Wednesday, March 22. Faith weighed 7 pounds, 14.6 ounces. Ginbey and her husband, Shannon, also have two young sons. Her staff suspects Ginbey will be back to work very soon. She was elected to the post in 2014. Hog facility, engineer contract and litigation on Floyd County Board agenda Monday

CHARLES CITY — A construction permit for a new hog facility, the county engineer’s contract, and a closed session about litigation are on the agenda for a special meeting Monday of the Floyd County Board. County supervisors will begin their day in a special meeting with the Chickasaw County Board at 10 a.m. in the Chickasaw County Courthouse in New Hampton.
