The Charles City Fire Department responded to at emergency call at about 10 a.m. Sunday at a house at Joslin and Hulin Streets. The department responded with two trucks and no smoke or flame was obvious. Firefighters entered through the front door where they set up a large fan. By 9:15 a.m, they packed up the fan, put away equipment and departed. Firefighters said it was a cooking fire. No injuries or serious damage. Last night, the Chicago Police Department took Antoine Williams, age 36, into custody on a warrant for 1st degree murder issued from an incident which took place in Charles City on June 30 at 9:46 am in the 2100 block of Clarkview Drive, according to a Facebook post by the Charles City Police. A new clock tower was lifted into place this morning in downtown Charles City.  Although not full, sidewalks facing McQuillen Place attracted spectators as a crane prepared for the big lift.  Early spectators got to watch an initial lift moving the tower from behind McQuillen to a staging point on the street.
