NASHUA — The Big 4 Junk in the Trunk antique fair will be April 28-29 at the Big 4 Fairgrounds, 437 Greenwood Ave., Nashua. Admission is $3. The fair will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 28, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 29. There will be food vendors and camping available. Weather to cool a bit today; snow possible

As Midwesterners, the blessing of beautiful weather compounds our suspicion something bad is going to happen. It’s like when the Vikings are an inch away from the goal line and it’s only first down. That’s when bad things happen. Well, the weather has been pretty great and could be nice again today (March 20). Cagley returns to Nashua City Council

NASHUA, Iowa — Rolland Cagley returned to the Nashua City Council on Monday night. He was appointed to the council to fill out the term of Ryan Jung, who had resigned. According to the city website, Cagley has served multiple terms on the City Council. Cagley lost in a January special election for a pair of two-year terms on the council. CC improv teams to perform at ISU this weekend

  Charles City High School speech team members will perform at the All-State  Large Group Events Festival  this Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Iowa State Center in Ames. The improvisational team of sisters Lily and Emily Woodward is scheduled to perform at 10:40 a.m. in Center VII in the Scheman Building. The team of seniors Gavin Connell, John Perez and Chris Campbell  will perform at 1:30 p.m. at the same site. Tickets for the festival are available at the participating schools. Riceville football in the playoffs

RICEVILLE — The Wildcats will be looking for that 1993 magic — which is when Riceville won its lone state football championship — when they host Tripoli on Friday, Oct. 27. This first-round game of the Iowa 8-man football state tournament begins at 7 p.m. Both teams have 8-1 regular season records. The person will drive trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, gravel, sand, and snow. 4-H Harvest Party is Oct. 8

NASHUA — The 4-H program will be hosting a 4-H Family Harvest Party 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Borlaug Learning Center near Nashua. The party will include hayrides and a free meal. CHARLES CITY — Sure, the Floyd County Fair’s opening day is Wednesday, but Tuesday, July 18, is Royalty Day, judgment day for non-livestock entries and show time for pets and 4-Hers.
