News Release DES MOINES – Upon discovery of the existence of substantial community spread of COVID-19 in the state, Gov. Reynolds is recommending that Iowa schools close for four weeks.  “Based on new information today from the Iowa Department of Public Health, now is the time to move to the next level of response,” Gov. Reynolds stated. “I am now recommending that all Iowa schools close for a period of four weeks to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.” Gov. UPDATE: With dark clouds closing in and the wind picking up around 4 p.m. Sunday the Charles City Youth Softball League cancelled the final two games of its tournament on Sunday. NASHUA — Phone scams are not exclusively from voice calls anymore. Now, they’re coming through text messaging. The Nashua Police Department on Tuesday evening posted a warning about this on its Facebook page. “Please be aware there are many scams being sent on all sorts of media,” the post says. “Remember: If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
