Technically, you can call rain water that’s over the dam. However, while Water Over the Dam Days is good for a parade, that water is not.
The WODD parade today has been postponed until noon because of the wind and the rain passing through.
The rain is welcome, though. Chickasaw is experiencing severe drought, according to the US Drought Monitor. The scale has two more steps above that level: extreme and exceptional. Roughly 32% of the state is in the same beached boat.
The Nashua Public Library has changed its plans because of the parade delay
“The library is open NOW for the book sale!” says a post on its Facebook page. “Due to the parade being rescheduled for Noon today we will be closing at noon today! Thanks for understanding!”
WODD organizers have posted this new schedule for today:
- Noon- Parade
- 1 p.m. – sand volleyball
- 1-4 p.m. – kids games
- 1 p.m. – basketball shooting contest
- (Everything else at scheduled times)
- 1-3 p.m. – Richie Lee & the Fabulous Fifties Band
- 3:30-5:30 p.m. – Triple Threat Band
- Everything still in the park until further notice
Another change for the day will be where the fireworks are fired from. “We will be using Veterans Park to shoot off the Fireworks on Saturday night due to the low river level,” says a post on the WODD Facebook page. “Veterans Park will be closed to the public late Saturday afternoon and evening.”
WAITING OUT THE STORM
