Nashua AM Update (Feb. 24): Longtime music teacher retiring

LONGTIME N-P MUSIC TEACHER RETIRING

Melanie Johanningmeier, K-12 music teacher for Nashua-Plainfield, is retiring at the end of this school year after 33 years in the district. The School Board approved an early retirement package for her at its Feb. 13 meeting.

“I want to thank everyone for their support during my 33 years at Nashua-Plainfield School,” she wrote in her letter to the board. “During my time here, I’ve been able to work with countless students in music, but also offering guidance, support and mentorship to my students. I will always think back fondly on my time as an educator.”

SCHOOL DISTRICT RESIGNATIONS AND HIRES

The N-P School Board on Feb. 13 accepted the resignation of elementary special education teacher Katherine Kemp and the hiring of Elizabeth Ricke for the position.

The board also accepted the resignation of junior high football coach Brad Thielen and the hiring of junior high girls track coach Deedie Cerwinske.
