N-P boys take 2nd at their home wrestling tournament

Nashua-Plainfield’s boys wrestling team came in second at its home tournament on Saturday.

The Huskies finished with 226.5 team points in the 16-team field. Wilton was first with 235.5.

106Jayden Rinken took first and scored 20 team points. He won by fall in the first two rounds. First over Maverick Grafke (BCLUW) and then Moe Hashi (Postville) at 1:54. He won by a 5-0 decision over Mason Shirk (Wilton) in the third round.

113Nic Brase placed second and scored 20 points. He received byes in the first and quarterfinal rounds. He then won by fall in 36 seconds over Keith Anderson (MFL Mar Mac). In the first place match, Austin Etzel (Wilton) won by a 3-2 decision over Brase.

120Hayden Munn finished in third and scored 20 points. He received a bye in the first round and won by fall at 1:53 in the quarterfinals over Jace Rhiner (Ballard). In the semifinal, Gabriel Brisker (Wilton) defeated Munn by a 6-1 decision, but Munn then pinned Aden Bice (Northwood-Kensett) at 1:18. In the third-place match, he won by fall in 21 seconds over Zaden Eggers (BCLUW-SH).

126 — Garret Rinken took first and scored 28 points. He received a bye in the first round and won by fall at 1:00 in the quarterfinals over Deacon Muntz (Clayton Ridge). In the semifinals, he won by fall at 1:09 over Jacob Harrison (Ballard). In the title match, he won by fall at 3:45 over Brody Brisker (Wilton).

132 — Kendrick Huck placed third and scored 18 points. He received a bye in the first round and won by fall in 56 seconds in the quarterfinals over Nick Deitchler (Central Elkader). Jordan Dusenberry (Wilton) won a 14-10 decision over Huck in the semifinal. Huck won by fall at 4:26 over Tucker Vitzthum (Ballard) to get to the third-place match where he won a 3-1 decision over Holden Mathis (MFL Mar Mac).

138 — Kaden Wilken took third and scored 20 points. He received a bye in the first round and won by fall in 42 seconds in the quarterfinals over Evan Boothroyd (West Hancock). In the semifinal, Bryce Radloff (MFL Mar Mac) won by 11-4 decision over Wilken, who came back to pin Treycen Rollene (Northwood-Kensett) at 5:25. He and Boothroyd faced each other in the third-place match. Wilken won by pin in 28 seconds.

145 — Devon Blanchard placed fourth and scored 12 points. He received a bye in the first round. Lane Kahler (Ballard) won by fall at 2:56 over Blanchard in the quarterfinals. Blanchard received a bye before he pinned Lane Rork (Clayton Ridge) at 2:55 and then won by an 11-7 decision over Hayden Hill (Wilton).

152 — Aiden Gelner took second and scored 20 points. He received byes in the first and quarterfinal rounds. In the semifinal, Gelner won by fall at 3:37 over Benny Runge (BCLUW-SH).

160 — Eli Kalainoff placed second and scored 20 points. He received a bye in the first round. He then won by 10-5 decision over Noah Henderson (Sumner-Fredericksburg) and by fall at 2:19 over Rhett Hedrick (Ballard).

170 — Maverick Dietz-McDonald placed fifth and scored 5 points. He received a bye in the first round. Luke Hartsook (Ballard) won by fall at 1:48 in the quarterfinals over Dietz-McDonald. Dietz-McDonald received two byes in the first two consolation rounds. Then Alex Paxson (BCLUW-SH) won by fall at 3:44. In the fifth-place match, Dietz-McDonald won in the ultimate tie breaker over Westin Schmid (West Hancock) 4-2.

182 — Tate White took fourth and scored 14 points. He received a bye in the first round and won by fall at 1:48 over Grant Henderson (Sumner-Fredericksburg) in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal, Brody Sampson (Ballard) won by major decision 10-1. White then won by 5-3 decision over Henry Erie (Columbus Catholic).

195 – Aiden Sullivan placed fourth and scored 15.5 points. He received a bye in the first round, won by a 15-0 tech fall over Kane Willey (Wilton) in the second. In the semifinal Gabriel Christensen (Ballard) won by a 12-3 major decision. He won by fall at 1:31 over Nolan Lerch (MFL Mar Mac).

220 — Jackson Zwanziger placed sixth and scored 7 points. He received a bye in the first round and won by a 5-3 decision over Sam Acevedo (Postville). In his next three matches, Mason Knipp (Columbus Catholic) won by fall at 1:05, Taylor Herzmann won by fall at 4:35 and David Smith (West Hancock) won by 9-4 decision.

285 — Isaac Jones placed fourth and scored 7 points. He lost by fall to Dorian Gutierrez (Postville) and Alexander Kaufmann (Wilton) and by 5-2 decision to Sean May (BCLUW-SH). Jones won by 3-1 decision over Will Howes (MFL Mar Mac).
