Oelwein update (Oct. 6): NICL volleyball championship tonight; new Oelwein Kwik Star grand opening Oct. 18

Good afternoon, Oelwein area readers, here is your moon update for today.

1. WEATHER — Today will gradually become sunny, with a high near 62. Breezy, with a north wind 6 to 11 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Tonight will be Partly cloudy, with a low around 37. North wind 9 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. (Extended Forecast)

2. KWIK STAR UPDATE – There will be an open house and ribbon cutting at the new Oelwein Kwik Star at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18.


Wapsie Valley remains in the running to win the North Iowa Cedar League Tournament, as is Denver, Dike-New Hartford and South Hardin. The championship game will be in Wapsie Valley tonight.

At Wapsie Valley: Wapsie Valley vs. Denver at 5 p.m. Dike-New Hartford vs. Union, 6 p.m. championship and third place games to follow.

Games for 13th-15th will be played at Aplington-Parkersburg: Oelwein vs. Arlington-Parkersburg at 5 p.m. and East Marshall at 6 p.m.; Aplington-Parkersburg vs. East Marshall, 7 p.m. at A-P.

Games for places 5th-8th will be played at AGWSR in Ackley.

Games for 9th-12th will be played in Hudson.

5. WC VOLLEYBALL is playing at MFL MarMac at 6 p.m. tonight
