2. CROSS COUNTY — Starmont/West Central’s Sieck places 3rd, Oelwein boys takes 7th as a team in Manchester
Oelwein’s varsity boys cross country team finished in 7th place on Tuesday among 23 teams at the West Delaware Hawks Invitational in Manchester, just ahead of Waverly-Shell Rock. Conall Sauser was Oelwein’s highest finisher. He took 8th with a time of 16:38.
Charlie Sieck captured 3rd in Manchester as his Starmont/West Central boys team took 18 th.
Oelwein’s varsity girls placed 15th and Starmont took 19th.
3. VOLLEYBALL — NICL tournament continues
Denver defeated Oelwein 2-0 (25-14, 25-17) on Tuesday at Grundy Center during the North Iowa Cedar League conference tournament. Jesup defeated the Huskies 2-1 (13-25, 25-22, 19-17). Oelwein will play at Arlington-Parkersburg on Thursday, taking on A-P at 5 p.m. and East Marshall at 6 p.m.
Sumner-Fredericksburg beat Gladbrook-Reinbeck 2-0 (25-13, 25-22), before falling to Dike-New Hartford. The Wolverines won 2-0 (25-16, 25-8).
Wapsie Valley defeated AGWSR 2-0 (25-12, 25-19). The Warriors will play at home Thursday against Denver at 5 p.m.
