10 things to know about the CCHS Prom on Saturday, April 21

CHARLES CITY — The Charles City High School Junior and Senior Prom begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday with the Grand March. Here is a rundown of what you need to know:

  1. The theme is “Night of a Thousand Lights.”
  2. The Prom King and Queen will be crowned the Grand March.
  3. The King candidates are Cade Hemesath, Elliott Gebel, Tyreque Baker, Ryan Wolfe and Elias King.
  4. The Queen candidates are Sydney Loeckle, Makayla Nierling, Marissa Deeter, Rylee Hageman and Mackenzie Wilson.
  5. The Grand March will be Saturday, April 21, in Comet Gymnasium (formerly known as the new competition gym), 1200 1st Ave. Doors open for spectators at 6:30 p.m. and admission is $1. The proceeds go toward the Prom.
  6. Prom-goers will lineup for the Grand March at 7 p.m. and begin to promenade at 7:30 p.m.
  7. The dance begins in the gym at 8:30 p.m.
  8. The After-Prom will be from midnight to 3:30 a.m. Sunday, April 22, in the gymnasium as well. At 1:30 a.m., a celebrity will host a game of Family Feud.
  9. There is no snow forecast for Saturday. The National Weather Service says it will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. An east wind will blow at around 7 mph.
