Macy Ross rolls 299 game in Comets win over North Iowa, Feb. 2

CHARLES CITY — The Charles City boys and girls high school bowling teams collected another set of wins Friday night at the Comet Bowl, this time against North Iowa The highlight of the night was Macy Ross’s 299 game.

Her final ball of that game, which left a 10 pin standing, was thrown perfectly, said head coach Doug Bohlen.

Only two girls in Iowa high school bowling this year have rolled 300 games are Cedar Rapids-Prairie senior Mikayla Hite and Urbandale senior Megan Hess, according to Quik Stats Iowa

Ross, also a senior, and Waterloo, West freshman Kayley Fangman are the only girls to roll 299 games this season.

The Comet girls won the match 2991 to 1961

Cade Schmidt’s 278 led the boys in their 3,098-2,428 win.



The Comets next action will be Saturday, Feb. 10. The Varsity tournament begins at noon at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo. They will compete against Tripoli,

Forest City,


North Iowa,

Waterloo Columbus,

North Fayette Valley

Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo will also host the 2018 state boys’ and girls’ tournaments Feb. 19-21.
