NASHUA – The Annual Home Demonstration Garden Tour at the ISU Northeast Research Farm will run from 4 to 6 PM on August 5th. Cindy Haynes, ISU Horticulturalist, will highlight this year’s garden theme “Donation Gardens” and discuss this year’s vegetable and flower cultivars planted and other gardening techniques. Last year, the ISU NE Research Farm donated over 3100 lbs of marketable produce from less than a tenth of an acre, to local food pantries by the hard work of Iowa Master Gardener volunteers.
The field day is free and open to the public and homemade ice cream will be served after the conclusion of the program. It starts at the Borlaug Learning Center on the ISU Northeast Research Farm. Directions: From Nashua at the Jct. of Hwy 218 (Exit 220) and Co. Rd. B60, go west on B60 1.1 miles to Windfall Ave., then south 1 mile to 290th St., then east 0.2 miles to the farm.
