N-P volleyball closes out regular season going 2-1 at North Butler quad

GREENE — North Butler’s Bearcats we’re a point away from defeat when Olivia Dralle pushed the ball back over the net. It spun off the finger tips of a Nashua-Plainfield player going for a block and floated past the back line. The Bearcats got the serve back and got to work erasing the Huskies’ 24-21 lead. But, as North Butler looked to take a 25-24 lead N-P’s Bailey Fisher launched toward Paige Ripley’s set, and tapped the ball. The soft arch evaded the blockers. A Bearcat dig went awry. West Central volleyball to open regional playoffs at home Oct. 17

West Central (7-12) will open the Class 1A Region 6 volleyball playoffs at home on Monday, Oct. 17 against Kee, Lansing (1-16). Game time is 7 p.m. The winner will travel to Don Bosco (21-9) on Wednesday, Oct. 19, to take on the 8th-ranked Dons. But first, the Blue Devils have one last regular season match. N-P wins for 5th time in last 7 matches

SHEFFIELD — The Nashua-Plainfield volleyball team took its winning ways on the road Tuesday, defeating West Fork in three sets (26-24, 25-16, 26-24). The Huskies improved their season record to 7-16. West Fork is 4-14. The Huskies have won five of their last seven matches. UP NEXT N-P’s next action is a quadrangular at North Butler (4-17) on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Oelwein volleyball sweeps on Senior Night, heading to NICL tournament next week

Oelwein celebrated its seniors and a victory Thursday night. The Huskies (12-16) closed out the regular season on Thursday with a 3-0 win at home against Valley Lutheran (0-5). Seniors Zoey Reisner and Emma Smock led Oelwein in kills with seven apiece. The Huskies third senior, Lily King had three kills. Junior Joslynn Melchert led Oelwein servers with 14 aces in her 19 successful serves. For Oelwein’s full stats, click here. N-P wins 1 set in loss to St. Ansgar

Saint Ansgar snapped Nashua-Plainfield volleyball’s win streak at two Thursday night. The Saints (14-10) defeated the Huskies (5-16) by a score of 3-1 (25-15, 25-15, 16-25, 25-17). Game stats for the Huskies were not immediately available. N-P took a 7-0 lead in the third set and went on to win 25-16. It’s good to be home. Just ask the Nashua-Plainfield volleyball team, which has won four of its last five matches, all played in the Huskies home gym. Nashua-Plainfield defeated Clarksville in three sets Tuesday night, 25-16, 25-14, 25-17. The Huskies are now 6-15 overall so far this season. The Indians are 0-11.
