Saturday’s scheduled playoff opener between Clayton Ridge (5-23) and Oelwein (10-19) was postponed. The Eagles and the Huskies will play the Class 2A Substate 3 District 5 game at 5 p.m. Monday, July 3, at Starmont High School in Arlington.

In order of seeding, the teams in Class 2A Substate 3 District 5 are: 1. Cascade (21-8), 2. Sumner-Fredericksburg (18-5), 3. Starmont (10-13), 4. Oelwein (10-16), 5. Clayton Ridge (5-23), 6. Denver (4-22).

The second round district games will be Wednesday, July 5. Winners will advance to the Saturday, July 8 district final, followed by substate final games set for Tuesday, July 11.

The champions of Districts 5 and 6 will face each other for the Substate 3 championship and a berth in the state tournament.

The District 6 teams are: 1. New Hampton (22-9), 2. Waukon (15-18), 3. MFL MarMac (18-11), 4. Osage (15-10), 5. North Fayette Valley (9-23) and 6. Crestwood (4-22).

In District 6 on Saturday, Osage defeated Crestwood, 7-6, and MFL MarMac beat North Fayette Valley, 10-0.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association released the baseball substate brackets for Classes 1A and 2A on Thursday, June 22.
